Ciena 6500. ONECONTROL 6500 MANAGEMENT OPERATIONS. OneControl. Система управления.

Course Description:

This Blended-Learning Kit (BLK) is designed for personnel responsible for the Operation, Provisioning, and Maintenance of a network containing Ciena 6500 Packet-Optical Transport Family, 6200 Family, 6100 Packet-Optical Transport Family, 5000 Advanced Services Family, and/or Common Photonic Layer (CPL) products. OneControl is a unified management system that allows Network Operations Center (NOC) personnel to efficiently manage and monitor telecommunications networks containing Ciena products.

This blended-learning kit includes:

  • WBT O611 – OneControl Product Overview
  • WBT O615 – OneControl Alarm Monitoring and Audit Logging
  • ILT O-652 – OneControl 6500/6200/6100/5000/CPL Management Operations

Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:

  • Define the purpose and function of the OneControl
  • Describe the Network Management layers and position of OneControl
  • Describe the OneControl system architecture
  • List the major steps involved to access OneControl
  • Describe the OneControl UMS Dashboard capabilities
  • Describe the Alarm Management and Reporting capabilities of OneControl
  • Use features of the OneControl menu bar, dashboard, and network map to perform network and 6500/6100/5000/CPL management tasks
  • Explain the OneControl Manager for the 6500, 6100, 5000, and CPL
  • Perform server and NE surveillance and administration functions
  • Perform Network Element management (enrollment, backup and restore)
  • Perform wavelength services provisioning and management (Layer 0)
  • Perform wavelength services restoration and reversion (Layer 0)
  • Perform SONET/SDH/OTN Layer 1 service provisioning
  • Explain the Control Plane management
  • Execute Packet (Layer 2) service provisioning and management
  • Explore fault management utilizing Network and Service Viewer (NSV)

Conditions for Instructor-Led Training:

  • The maximum number of students for this course is 10.
  • Lectures take place in a classroom using projector presentations
  • Demonstrations and exercises will be conducted in the classroom and training lab.
  • Students receive course presentation material and product documentation on a USB drive.
  • If the ILT portion of this course is delivered outside a Ciena facility where captive lab equipment is not available, the lab equipment in a Ciena facility can be accessed remotely using a WebEx connection. Remote lab equipment access does have limitations with respect to the amount of tests and procedures that can be performed.

Prerequisites:

To be successful in this blended-learning kit, students should have a basic
knowledge of:

  • Working knowledge of telecommunications, fiber optics, digital communications technology, and remote network management operations
  • Basic knowledge of Synchronous Optical Network/Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SONET/SDH), Optical Transport Networking (OTN), Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM), and Ethernet protocols
  • Basic knowledge of the OneControl Unified Management System and associated 6500 Packet-Optical Transport Platform products

Additionally, prior to attending the Instructor-led portion of this kit, students should have completed:

  • O611 – OneControl Product Overview [duration: 2 hours and 30 minutes]
  • O615 – OneControl Alarm Monitoring and Audit Logging [duration: 45 minutes]

It is recommended that students should complete one or more of the following ILT courses: 

  • O-222 – 6500 Broadband and CPL Operation and Maintenance
  • O-224 – 6500 Broadband and Photonic Layer Operation and Maintenance
  • O-241 – 6500 MSPP Operation and Maintenance
  • O-243 – 6500 MSPP and Broadband Operation and Maintenance
  • O-282 – 6500 OTN Operation and Maintenance

Additionally, students would benefit from completing the following certification:

  • Ciena’s Optical Communications – Associate (OC-A) Certification

Conditions for Prerequisite Web-based Training:

Interactive Web-based presentations are conducted on:

  • Personal Computer (PC) Windows XP or later
  • MAC OSX 10.6.x or later
  • Sound card with external speakers or headphones
  • Browser support:
    • PC: Microsoft Internal Explorer 8.x or later; Firefox 3.6.x or later; Google Chrome 10.x or later
    • MAC: Apple Safari 4.0.x or later
  • Students need to ensure that any pop-up blocker is disabled.
  • Macromedia Flash Player and/or Windows Media Player web browser plugins are required.
  • Reference documents are available on the Ciena portal.

Duration:

The average time to complete the training courses in this kit is approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes for the Web-based components and 2 days for the instructor-led course.
