Ciena 6200. PACKET-OPTICAL PLATFORM OPERATION, ADMINISTRATION, MAINTENANCE, AND PROVISIONING (OAM&P)

Course Description:

This training course is designed for personnel responsible for operations, administration, maintenance, and provisioning on the 6200 system.


Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:
•     Identify the features and capabilities of the 6200 product line
•     Understand how the 6200 fit into networks
•     Identify the hardware components of the 6200
•     Navigate the web user interface (WUI)
•     Perform user/security management functions
•     Understand and provision data communications channels
•     Identify synchronization options and carry out synchronization provisioning
•     Provision and manage interfaces and circuit packs
•     Understand and provision protection switching
•     Understand and manage performance monitoring
•     Perform fault management tasks
 


Conditions for Instructor-Led Training:

•    The maximum number of students for this course is 10.
•    Lectures take place in a classroom using projector presentations.
•    Demonstrations and exercises will be conducted in the classroom and training lab.
•    Students receive course material and product documentation on a USB drive.
•    Reference technical documents are available on the Ciena portal.
•    Course methodology is lecture/discussion and performance/demonstration.
•    Class time balance is estimated as: 75% formal presentation, 20% hands-on exercises and
demonstration, and 5% administrative activities.
•    If this course component is delivered outside of a Ciena facility where captive lab equipment
is not available, the lab equipment in a Ciena facility can be accessed remotely using a WebEx
connection. Remote lab equipment access does have limitations with respect to the amount of tests
and procedures that can be performed.
 


Prerequisites:

To be successful in this course, students should have these skills, knowledge,
and equipment:
•    Laptop computer with a USB port capable of displaying PDF presentations.
•    Working knowledge of telecommunications, fiber optics, and digital communications technology.
Additionally, students should complete these Web-based Training courses prior to attending this course.
•    CN06 – ESD, Laser Safety and Fiber Cleaning [duration: 30 minutes]
 


Duration:

The duration of this training course is 2 days for the Instructor-Led Training plus approximately 30 minutes for the WBT prerequisite.
